random thoughts for the day

Well, I'm sitting at home...it's my day off...Sam is about to wake up from is morning nap...Crystal is at the doctor's office with Zach (his one week appointment). I feel like this is my first chance to catch my breath and reflect. Although, I don't know how much time I have to reflect considering I hear Sam waking up...

• Zach has been great so far. He seems to be a pleasant and healthy baby! The only problem has been that we can't get him to sleep during the first half of the night. All three nights at home he hasn't gone to sleep until around 2am. Once he goes to sleep, though, he is down for the night.
• It's has been fun for me to spend extra time with Sam this week. Our MO has been for me to try to keep Sam occupied so that Crystal can focus on Zach. I love Sam's age. He is starting to really pick up on stuff. I can't wait until he can start to communicate through words. I'm pretty sure that will be one of my favorite stages to parent. I love to see kids learn things for the first time.

• To change the subject a bit...I'm excited that summer is here. I'm ready to have some fun with our youth ministry. We already have a couple of events planned (Progressive Lock-in, Canoe Trip, Mission Mexico). I'll fill up the schedule in the coming weeks.
• Did I ever tell you that the only TV shows I really watch these days are Lost and Alias? I have been taping them every Wednesday during youth group. This week was the season finale of both shows. Very good stuff. Both shows had endings that made my jaw drop. I guess I'm a sucker for a good plot. Oh, and by the way, if any of my rich friends want to buy me a birthday present in a couple of weeks...I could use one of these...even if I wouldn't actually get it for a couple of months.
